Exchange 2013, Basic Configuration

When we have finish installing Exchange 2013, we need to make a basic configuration.
For this, we will go to (EAC) Exchange Admin Center 2013, and login with a administrator user.

First of all, we go to MAIL FLOW where we can configure the receipt mail. Ensure that all yours domains are on the list ACCEPTED DOMAINS like in this picture

Add or Remove Interface Windows 2012

Windows 2012 Server have a new Feature that allow you turn a server with interface in a core server and a core server turn in a Server with interface.

I have a server with interface. I have configure all features in a server, and I want to turn it in a core server. Thereby, the server consumes fewers resources.

There are two modes to remove GUI in a windows 2012 server.

Exchange 2013 Manager Console

When you finish the Exchange 2013 installation  ( preprequisites and ExchangeSetup ) you go direct to look for the new Exchange Manager Console. If you go to the new windows screen where are all the programs you only can see this apps.

Exchange Toolbox: enhances the Exchange Server with important security features like spam filter, virus scanner, email backup and a set of rules.

Open the folder where you extract the exchange server setup or run the disk and select setup.exe

Prerequisites to install Exchange 2013

We are going to install Exchange 2013 in Windows 2012. This is a simple configuration where we a going to explain how install the prerequisites, other apps, and finally, Exchange 2013.


First of all we need to install diferents Roles and Features on the server where we are going to install Exchange 2013. You can copy this command and apply this in a Powershell Console.

How to change FSMO Roles in Windows 2012

In this post we are going to explain, what we need to change all FSMO Roles in Windows 2012. If you need a little explain about FSMO roles, you can read this post.

First of all, we need to know which domain controler have each role. For this we open a powershell and launch this command

netdom query fsmo

In this case, the five roles are in IRD01DC01.domain.com

Fine Grained Password Policy

When you are one System Administrator and have a load of users who go inside into the domain, and this users have differents profiles, you can configurate differents passwords policys for each one.

Go to Active Directory Administrative Center. Go to Domain -> Services -> Paswword Settings Container and we create a New Password Settings.

Enable Recycle Bin in Active Directory in Windows 2012

In this post, we are going to explain how you can activate the Active Directory Recycle Bin.

First of all, you need to open a Powershell and launch this command:

Enable-ADOptionalFeature -Identity ‘CN=Recylcle Bin Feature,CN=Optional Features,CN=Directory Service,CN=Windows NT,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=yourdomain,DC=com

Error Enabling Recycle Bin. Enable-ADOptionalFeature : The FSMO role....

When you try to activate the Recycle Bin in Windows 2012 you can have the same problem that I have this time.

Enable-ADOptionalFeature : The FSMO role ownership could not be verified because its directory partition has not replicated successfully with at least one replication partner.
